The City of Reading is fortunate to be surrounded by several natural treasures including; Neversink Mountain, Mount Penn, and the Schuylkill River & associated trails. The Berks County Conservancy is the sole organization currently responsible for ensuring that Neversink Mountain remains as open space for the benefit of the city residents and general public that visit the 900-acre mountain. The Berks County Conservancy has invested much time and resources over the past 10 years acquiring land on the (then privately-owned) mountain. As a result they own nearly 500-acres of Neversink that connects from one end of the mountain to the other.
Regular hikes of the Neversink Mountain Preserve are offered. Call the Berks County Conservancy's office for more information 610-372-4992. A trail map can be found on the Conservancy's website.
